Danville softball roundup for March 24

SOFTBALL: Danville 3, Addison 2 (11)

Callie Ryan had a walk-off RBI hit to score Hannah Bates in the bottom of the 11th inning to earn the win March 23.

That was Ryan’s only hit of the day.

Kellee Stiles paced the Hawks with a 3-for-5 performance, including an RBI single to score Bates in the fifth inning and a solo home run to tie the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning, extending the game.

Morgan Weatherwax also went 3-for-4 while Grace Cobb and Bates both finished 2-for-5. Danielle Roof, Savannah Bolton, Emma Broadfoot had the other hits.

Bolton went the distance, racking up 18 strikeouts in 11 innings of work. She allowed just two runs on eight hits with one walk.

Lady Hawks edge East Lawrence 4-3

Danville’s Lady Hawks relied on a three-run homer by Danielle Roof and a single run in the 6th inning to edge East Lawrence 4-3 in a home game March 16.

Roof’s homer came in the fifth inning with her team trailing 3-0. Brittany Linderman reached on an error, allowing Savannah Bolton to score for the go-ahead run in the sixth inning.

Other Danville hitters were Kellee Stiles with a triple and single, Callie Ryan with a pair of singles and a run scored, Morgan Weatherwax with a single and a run scored and Lara Fagan, Savannah Bolton and Kristen Dobbins each with a single.

Bolton was credited with the win. She allowed four runs on four hits while striking out 17 batters and giving up a walk.

Danville 9, Hamilton 1

Danville’s Lady Hawks scored 3hree runs in the top of the first inning and went on to defeat Hamilton 9-1 in an area contest on the road March 17.

Danville added another run in the fifth and five more in the seventh.

Lara Fagan paced Danville in hitting with a pair of doubles, a single, four RBIs and a run. Savannah Bolton had a double and single and scored a run, Morgan Weatherwax had a double and scored two runs. Callie Ryan had a two-run single and scored a run, Kellee Stiles had a pair of singles and scored two runs, Brittany Linderman had an RBI single and scored a run and Kristen Dobbins had a single.

Savannah Bolton wet the distance and was credited with the win. She allowed one run on two hits while striking out 11 and walking two.

West Morgan 3, Danville 2

Danville’s seventh-inning rally fell one run short against West Morgan’s Lady Rebels Thursday.

Morgan Weatherwax, Savannah Bolton and Danielle Roof each had a double for the Lady Hawks while Lara Fagan and Bolton each had a single.

Bolton gave up three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out nine.

Danville 11, Haleyville 1

Danville’s Lady Hawks collected 11 hits in an area win over Haleyville at home Thursday.

Pitcher Savannah Bolton went the distance, fanning nine batters and allowing one run on one hit while walking one.

Kellee Stiles went 4-for-4 for the Lady Hawks with a double, two RBIs and two RBIs. Morgan Weatherwax was 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and an RBI single.

Callie Ryan went 2-for-4 with a triple, double, RBI and two runs.

Grace Cobb had a triple while Bolton had a two-run double to end the game in the sixth inning. Lara Fagan also had a two-run single while Danielle Roof added two runs and two stolen bases.

Hatton 7, Danville 0

Danville’s Lady Hawks lost a 6-0 shutout to Hatton at the Decatur Invitational Tournament Saturday.

Danville’s only hit was a single by Callie Ryan.

Abby Young was the losing pitcher. She allowed seven runs on six hits while striking out one and walking four.

Danville 3, Hatton 2

Danville’s Lady Hawks scored three runs in the 4th inning and went on to defeat Hatton at the Decatur Invitational Tournament Saturday.

Kellee Stiles paced Danville at the late with two double and two RBIs. Morgan Weatherwax had a pair of singles and scored a run, Danielle Roof had an RBI double and scored a run and Savannah Bolton added a single.

Bolton was the winning pitcher. She allowed two runs on five hits while striking out 11 and walking one.

Danville 5, Decatur 4

Danville’s Lady Hawks scored four runs in the first inning and went on to defeat Decatur 5-4 at the Decatur Invitational Tournament Saturday.

Emma Broadfoot paced Danville with a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Danielle Roof doubled and singled and scored a run. Lara Fagan had a pair of singles, an RBI and scored twice. Morgan Weatherwax singled and scored a run, Callie Ryan and Grace Cobb each singled.

Weatherwax was the winning pitcher. She allowed four runs on five hits while striking out two batters. Bolton pitched two innings with four strikeouts.
