Tigers ride 4-game winning streak

Hartselle swept a doubleheader with Sparkman Saturday, extending Hartselle’s winning streak to four games.

Jake Nelson struck out six batters, walked two and allowed two hits in a 6-0 shutout win in the first game Saturday at Hoover.

Will Foote paced the Tigers with a 3-for-4 effort including a run scored and an RBI. Hayden Bradford, Tyler Cook and Brady Netherton had the other hits for Hartselle. Netherton had two runs scored and an RBI.

Bradford, Collin Blackwood and Lane Anders scored the other runs.

Tate Mathis went 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs in the Tigers’ 9-4 win over Sparkman in the nightcap. He was a home run shy of competing the cycle.

Foote also went 2-for-3 with a double. Netherton, Tyler Cook, Collins Hanners and Jake Chaney each had hits.

Netherton pitched five innings, allowing two hits, one walk and three unearned runs with five strikeouts.

Mason Towers allowed one earned run on two hits and one walk with one strikeout in one inning of work. Ben Kimbrough allowed two walks in a scoreless inning of work.
