Funeral for Royce Sparks, 72, of Birmingham will be Thur., Nov. 7, at 2 p.m. at Gum Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Buel Bennett officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Gum Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Thurs., Nov. 7, from noon to 2 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Sparks died Tues., Nov. 5, 2013 at his residence. He was born Feb. 16, 1941, in Morgan County to Price John Sparks and Pernie Lee Jones Sparks. He was formerly a Carpenter employed by the Local Carpenter’s Union. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Otis Sparks.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Gail Ward Sparks of Birmingham; two sons, Craig Sparks and wife Dana of Fultondale and Marty Sparks and wife Sonya of Vestavia; four sisters, Marie Grisham of Decatur, Sue Reed and husband J.R. of Decatur, Faye Blackwood and husband Billy of Decatur and Debbie Sparks of Decatur; and three grandchildren.
