Hartselle Parks and Rec­reation’s movie in the park featuring “Hocus Pocus” will begin at 7 p.m. at Sparkman Civic Center. For more information, contact Sparkman Civic Center at 256-773-2581.

Nov. 1

Hartselle Junior High School is having a fall festival and trunk-or-treat, which will be held Nov. 1 prior to the Hartselle vs. Austin football game. The activities and candy are free. We are inviting all community businesses and churches that wish to participate to come setup candy tents/trunks and distribute candy. Daystar Church is providing inflatables and a couple of rides. HJHS will have a Swamp John’s dinner for $10 per plate. Drinks and desserts will be sold separately. The Swamp Johns plates pre-orders are being taken right now by HJHS students. Walk-ins are welcome.

The Hartselle Downtown Merchant’s Association will sponsor Christmas Open House Nov. 3 from 2-5 p.m. A preview night will be Nov. 2.

The Town of Eva will observe its 50th anniversary with a special celebration on Sat., Nov. 2, from 2 to 5 p.m. Activities will be staged in Veterans Memorial Park.. Everyone is welcome.

Nov. 9

The Stoney Creek Camp FUNraiser will be Nov. 9, beginning at 7 a.m. Bring your family and enjoy a day of fun as you support Stoney Creek Camp. There will be home goods, building supply items for sale along with camp memorabilia. There will be barbecue plates, popcorn, a cakewalk, moon bounces and so much more. The Hartselle Veterans Parade will be Nov. 9 in downtown Hartselle. Festivities begin at 9 a.m. when exhibits open. The program will be at 10 a.m. at the Hartselle Historic Depot on Railroad Street, followed by the parade at 11 a.m. This year’s event will be in honor of SFC U.S. Army Otis Daniel.

Hartselle Fine Arts Center is sponsoring Santa’s Treats On College Street Arts and Craft Show, Nov. 9, from 9 a.m.to 6 p.m. and Nov. 10, from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, call 256-773-4046.

Nov. 11

The Town of Priceville will host a Morgan County Veterans Day Parade and a ceremonial salute to veterans of all branches of military service on Mon., Nov. 11. The parade will be at 10 a.m. Units will line up on North Bethel Road and be judged at 9:30 a.m. Jane Train is serving as parade chairwoman. College Street Players announces auditions for Disney’s “The Little Mermaid Jr.” will be Sat., Nov. 16, from 9 a.m. to noon for grades 6-12 at the Hartselle Fine Arts Center. The play will be directed by Dena Nagel and Jenny Faulk. Director of Music is Wanda Thompson. Cast lists will be posted by Sun., Dec. 1. Cast meetings will be Mon., Dec. 2, and Thur., Dec. 5. First rehearsal will be Thur., Jan. 2, 2014. Production dates are Feb. 26, 2014, through March 1, 2014, with six performances at the Hartselle High School Auditorium. The Birthday Bash at the civic center offers a birthday party theme to suit your child. The fee is $100, for 12 guests, ages five  and older. It includes a party room, two coordinators, simple decorations and games. Party days are Monday – Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., or Saturday, from 10 a.m. to noon. The Hartselle Hope AL-Anon Family Group at 527 Sparkman St. in Hartselle, meets Mondays at 8 p.m., Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m., Wednesdays at noon and 8 p.m.

Falkville VFW, 784 Culver Road, hosts bingo every Tuesday and Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 256-784 5747.

Dale Serrano Dance Studio will meet on Monday nights at the civic center. Instructors will strive to supply children not only the foundation of dance, but with tools for life. For more information, call 205-822-6378 .

Aerobics classes are held every Monday, Wednes­day and Friday at the Sparkman Civic Center, at 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. This class is taught by Mellonie Chappell and is for all ages. It’s the perfect opportunity to lose a few pounds and gain new friends at the same time. The fee is $25 per month or $10 per visit.

Senior Nutrition Center, also known as the Hartselle Senior Center is the place for friendly visiting, serious Rook and Canasta, a loud game of Texas spinner dominoes, sing-a-longs, informative chats and so much more. We operate from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday and have been known to jump on an evening supper bus now and then. The Hartselle Civitan Club meets the first and third Monday at 6 p.m. in Sparkman Civic Center Room 10. The club works with Civitan International to support and work with people in our community with mental and physical disabilities and support the Civitan International Research Center in Birmingham.  Civitan is the only civic club with a research center. Hartselle Civitan Club was responsible for starting the Special Needs Accessible Playground located directly behind the Sparkman Civic Center.  Along with Woodmen of the World, they also do the Avenue of Flags along U.S. 31 in Hartselle.  For more information, contact secretary Rita Sims at 256-773-5904.

Priceville Palace hosts a Big Band Swing with the Sophisticated Swingers on the first Friday of each month at 7:30 p.m. Every Saturday night Glenn Wood and the Crosscut Band is featured. All mothers of active duty reserve or honorably discharged military service members are invited to attend monthly meetings of Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. The Morgan County Chapter meets the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at East Highland Baptist Church in Hartselle.

 

The Hartselle Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous meets Mondays at 8 p.m.; Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m.; Wednesdays at noon and 8 p.m.; Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.; Fridays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 7 p.m. The Friday meeting is a smoking meeting. Country Music and Dance- Put on your boots and kick up your heels every first and third Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. at Sparkman Civic Center. Hack Ward and the Good Time Country Band will be performing some of your favorite country songs. Admission is $5 per person. Concession will also be available.

Hartselle’s New Beginnings Quilt Guild meets on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the basement of First Christian Church on East Main Street. It is open to all who are interested in quilt making, The guild is focused on beginning quilt makers to help them learn how to make a new block each month and new techniques used to make them. Head Over Heels Tumbling:  Attention gymnasts. Sign up for the beginning tumbling class to start you on your way.  Tumbling class meets every Thur. afternoon at the Sparkman Civic Center from 5 to 6 p.m. The fee is $40 per month.
