City to use emergency text alert system

The City of Hartselle has entered into an agreement with Verizon Wireless to use a text alert system that can be used by the city to alert residents of dangers or other emergency issues within the city limits.
Mayor Don Hall said the service is at no cost to the city as long as the messages are made by ambulance services, courts, police protection, fire protection or other justice, public order and safety activities.
