DNA helps solve business burglary
An 18-month-old business burglary has been solved thanks to the suspect’s DNA, according to press release from Morgan County Sheriff Ana Franklin.
The suspect is Patrick Holloway. He is currently free on a $2,500 bond after being arrested and charged with burglary III.
On Jan. 7, 2012, CJ’s Video in Eva was burglarized after the front glass to the building was knocked out with a brick, While investigating the scene investigator/sat.
Chad Smith noticed fresh blood on one of the vending machines that had been smashed . He collected a sample and sent it to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for analysis. Later, he was notified by ADFS that the DNA sample tentatively matched that of Holloway.
Subsequently, Smith obtained a search warrant for a DNA sample from Holloway. That sample was sent to ADFS and results came back confirming it matched the sample obtained from the crime scene.
