Hartselle Enquirer

The Hartselle City Council decided to schedule a special budget work session for Tues., Aug. 20, at 6 p.m. during Monday’s regular work session.

City Clerk Rita Lee made a short presentation on FY 2014’s budget proposal for the city of Hartselle. The proposal showed several options regarding payroll costs, including possibilities of merit advances, a one percent cost of living adjustment and cutting overtime in half. Each possibility left the budget in a deficit, ranging from $9,000 to over $171,000 in the red.

The proposed FY 2014 payroll budget includes one new full-time position and one new part-time position.

The scheduled budget meeting will allow the council to review the budget and see if revisions could be made before accepting the budget.
