Art Guild sets plans for Eva Frontier Days
Eva Art Guild has announced plans for its annual Eva Frontier Days celebration, which will begin Sat., Sept. 21, and continue through Sat., Sept. 28.
The gala event will kick off Sat., Sept. 21, with a beauty pageant at Journey Church, beginning at 10 a.m. Admission will be $3
A Bluegrass Festival featuring Eva’s own Stan Nelson & the Hurricane Creek Band will follow at 6 p.m. at Eva School. It will be preceded by three hours of pickin’ and grinnin’. Admission will be $6.
A community hayride will be offered with a $1 admission Tues., Sept, 24. The event will begin at the Saddle Club Arena on frost Street. Participants will receive a free hot dog and coke.
On Thurs., Sept. 26, at 7 p.m., a free community gospel singing will be featured at Bethel United Methodist Church.
Music on the square will be the featured event Fri., Sept. 27, beginning at 6 p.m.
The eight-day event will culminate with an all-day festival Sat., Sept. 28.
One of the featured activities will be an antique tractor show, one of the largest of its kind in North Alabama. Antique cars will also be on display. Registration begins at 9 a.m.
A street parade will follow at 11 a.m. There will also be a crafts show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and a baking contest, featuring baked goods, jams, jellies and preserves. Cash awards will be presented to the top winners.
Afternoon activities will include live entertainment from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., a Best Dressed Contest at 1:30 p.m., a Pig Calling Contest at 2 p.m. a Skin & Bones Comedy Circus at 3:30 p.m. and a Greased Pig Contest at 4 p.m.
Games and rides for all ages and food and merchandise vendors will be featured throughout the day.
The event will come to a climax with a free barbecue and fireworks show sponsored by Journey Church.
