Police looking for shooting suspect
The Hartselle Police Department are looking for a suspect accused of shooting a man during a domestic incident in the Hartselle Exxon gas station.
The suspect has been identified as Amanda Westmoreland. HPD spokesman Lt. Justin Barley said her name appears as Amanda Westmoreland Engle on her driver’s license. She is believed to be driving a red Ford Taurus, unknown model year.
At 4:54 a.m. Wednesday, officers from the Hartselle Police Department were dispatched to the Hartselle Exxon, located at U.S. 31 and Alabama 36, in reference to a man who had entered the store after being shot in the parking lot during a domestic incident.
The victim, Sam Martin, 38, of Hartselle, told police officers that that he had been shot by his girlfriend, Westmoreland. She was not on the scene when officers arrived.
Barley said Martin was shot in the shoulder with a small caliber handgun. Martin was transported to Huntsville Hospital and is being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.
Barley is asking anyone has information on the whereabouts of Westmoreland to call the Hartselle Police Department at 256-773-6534.
