Two stores set to open this summer

Hartselle will welcome two new retail business to its city this summer, as Pet Depot and Tractor Supply Company will open its doors in two shopping centers.

Tractor Supply Company is planning to open a 21,130-square-foot store in the old Walmart shopping center, where the Hartselle Indoor Flea Market currently operates.

Rob Hoskins, media relations representative for the Brentwood, Tenn., company, said they will employ between 12 and 17 full-time and part-time employees. He added that Hartselle is a good fit for their target market.

“[T]his is especially true in that the area was attractive due to the part-time and hobby farmers and horse owners in the area,” Hoskins said.

A soft opening has been tentatively scheduled for June 29.

Pet Depot, based out of Florence, is hoping to open a 7,000-square-foot location by early July in the Crestwood Shopping Center near Factory Connection and Kroger, according to spokesman Andrew Schutt.

“The owner said we are moving into a renovated space where the furniture store is now plus the empty space next door,” Schutt said.

In addition to its full line of pet supplies, Schutt said the store will feature a pet grooming salon.
