William Grady Irvin

Funeral for William Grady Irvin, 86, of Somerville will be Tues., Nov. 6, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Shane Wheeler officiating.

Burial with military honors will be in the Watson-Morrow Family Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Irvin died on Sat., Nov. 3, 2012, at the Tut Fan Veterans Home in Huntsville. He was born April 1, 1926, in Marshall County to Dewey Franklin Irvin and Cordie Brown Wilson Irvin. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1943-1946 and 1947-1950 and was the recipient of the China Service Medal, Japanese Occupation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a UKC Show Judge and Master of Hounds from 1966 to present and first induction to the Alabama Coon Hunters Hall of Fame. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ethel Lee “Polly” Roden Irvin; a granddaughter, Jaimie Irvin Lawhorne; his step-dad, Howard Maples; two sisters, Pauline Irvin Young and Betty Mae Irvin Kelley; and two brothers. Aubrey Irvin and Melvin Irvin.

He is survived by a son, Rickie Howard Irvin of Somerville; a daughter, Karen Jaquess of Huntsville; two brothers, Robert Gene Irvin of Decatur and Boyd Edward Irvin of Lacey’s Spring; three grandchildren, Vickie Aycock and husband Jason, Leah Jaquess and James Irvin; eight great grandchildren; Gage Lawhorne, Ian St.Germain, Simon Aycock, Starr Irvin, Azlee Aycock, Raven Jaquess Orr, Rory Irvin and Kylie Jaquess.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
