Falkville Week 8 game notes

Falkville (7-0*, 5-0) at Addison (5-2, 5-1)

* AHSAA includes win forfeit win over Jefferson Christian, which didn’t field a team.

Series: Addison leads 31-17

Last meeting: Addison won 27-6 in 2009

Well-deserved break: Falkville got a well-deserved break last week after starting its season 6-0. Now, the Blue Devils are in position not only to make the playoffs, but also to host a playoff game.

Home field is on the line: Tonight’s game will go a long way to determining who will finish in the top two spots in Region 6. Ragland and Falkville are both 5-0 in the region and will face each other next week. Addison will play its final region game tonight and will have a bye next week. If Falkville wins, they are guaranteed a home game playoff game. If Addison wins, then Falkville would have to beat No. 4 Ragland next week to create a three-way tie atop Region 6.

Looking at common opponents: Falkville and Addison have played five common opponents this season, with both teams finishing undefeated against those teams. Falkville is averaging 37.4 points per game against those teams compared to Addison scoring 36.6. However, Addison has the decisive advantage on defense allowing 2 points per game while Falkville allowed 12.8 points per game in those five contests.

Stats leaders this season: Hunter Woodall has been a scoring machine for the Blue Devils. He is averaging nearly 150 yards and two touchdowns per game. With another good game tonight, Woodall will break the 1,000-yard mark for the season. He also has 15 catches for 142 yards. Aaron Estes has thrown for 598 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions on 52 of 88 passes. He also rushed for 209 yards and eight touchdowns. Ryan Sullivan is 2 of 2 for 87 yards with a touchdown. Lucas Johnson leads the team with 160 yards and three touchdowns on just six catches followed closely by Cade Wilemon with 15 catches for 137 yards and two scores. The Blue Devils have also forced 14 turnovers this season.
