HHS runners finish 4th, 5th
Hartselle High School’s cross country teams had four runners finish among the top 25 and came in 4th and 5th in team standings at the Bob Jones Invitational in Madison on Saturday.
The boy’s team came in 4th overall in competition with 10 other teams while the girl’s team finished 5th in competition with nine other teams.
John Paulsen paced the Tigers by coming in 13th with a time of 18:34.21. He was followed by Aaron Davis, 21st, 18:53.27; Chase Barrett, 31st, 19:32.67; Alex Wilt, 36th, 19:49.27; Ryan Nowka, 65th, 20:59.74; and Timothy Ammons, 75th, 21:21-14.
The Lady Tigers were led by Taylor Barnett who finished in 4th place with a time of 22:33.05. Following her in order were: Reagan Bowling, 21st, 22:57.17; Mallory Faulkner, 31st, 23:54.95; Brantley Owens, 34th, 24:17.45; Lindsey Elmore, 40th, 24:36.45; Kayla Norwood, 44th, 25:03.80; Ivy Buchanan, 64th, 26:36.67; Megan Chandler, 66th, 26:55.34; Heather Tilley, 74th, 26:55.34; and Rachel Parmer, 75th, 27:52.95.
“Our times showed improvement overall and we had several runners with personal highs,” said head coach Kenneth Lopez. “Our goal is to continue to work hard every day and be at our best when postseason competition begins.”
Hartselle will compete in the Jesse Owens Invitational in Lawrence County on Saturday.
