ASWA Football Poll for Sept. 26

Hartselle lost ground to Muscle Shoals in Class 5A, but they are still the top team in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association poll released Wednesday.

Muscle Shoals also has the distinction of being the top scoring defense through the first four games in all classifications. The only points allowed was a field goal by Athens last week. However, Muscle Shoals will be facing 4A Dora this week, a team that is averaging 44.25 points per game.

Hartselle is also No. 25 in scoring defense allowing 9 points per game.

Cullman, which Hartselle defeated on a last-second play, dropped to 10th, giving three teams from Region 8 in the poll. Other teams of note for Hartselle is Austin is ranked No. 6 in Class 6A.

In Class 1A, Falkville picked up another point in the polls and now have two points. The Blue Devils, however, still haven’t made it into the rankings. Ragland, a future region opponent of Falkville, is ranked No. 5. Also, Donoho received four points in this week’s poll. The Blue Devils play Sumiton Christian this week.
