Youth football off to a good start

Hartselle’s two 9-10 football teams remain unbeaten in the Tennessee Valley Youth Football League after picking up a win each on Saturday.

The 9-10 Whites defeated Madison County 18-6 on the strength of continued strong defensive play. Their overall record is 2-0.

The 9-10 Reds overcame a 0-13 deficit to get by Sparkman Blue 27-20. C.J. Gholston returned a kickoff and a fumble for touchdowns, propelling his team to an overall 3-0 record.

Hartselle 7-8 White won its second game without a defeat by edging Madison County 12 -0. Hartselle 7-8 Reds lost a hard-fought game to Madison County and now stand at 1-2 on the season.

Hartselle 11-12 improved to 2-1 on the season with a 20-7 win over Madison County.

The teams demonstrated good offensive line execution, showed toughness on defense and the special teams came up with a pair of safeties.

The 5-6 team lost to Madison County but its players are working hard and showing improvement.

All six teams will play at the Sparkman Park field Sat., Sept. 15.
