Melcher, Nelson exchange vows

We are home! We had planned to stay in Michigan for about a month and then go to North Dakota and stay two or three weeks.

God is amazing. My husband Al had a stroke in Michigan and we had to come home. If you have never been up the thumb of Michigan and over to North Dakota, through there to Duluth, MN to Fargo, ND, there is a lot of wilderness there. I can’t imagine a stroke there, also our truck messed up just before we got home. We made it home and had two universal points replaced. See what I mean, broke down in the truck and my husband having a stroke. God worked it all out and we safely got home and Al is okay and the truck is fixed.

Other than that, we had a great trip and a wonderful reunion with my two sisters and brother. Lots of nieces and nephews and greats and great great ones. We were hosted by them all, especially my nephew, Bert Hopp and wife Karen.

We had a celebration on Friday, the 20th. It was my sister Sue’s birthday, also niece Becky’s. So, we celebrated with them and the next Friday was my other sister Jerri’s birthday, as were two of my nephews’.

We celebrated her birthday at the home of our great-niece, Sonya Hall and husband Rob. We enjoyed swimming in the lake and she also had a pontoon boat we all rode around in and enjoyed seeing the birds and animals. We enjoyed this so much and many thanks to everyone.

Since we were gone so long and then back and forth to the doctor for tests with Al, I don’t know much that went on around here. I am back and hope to get back into the swing of things.

Late happy birthday wishes to Joseph Simmons on August 5 and our daughter, Lisha on August 18.

On Wednesday night, the Journey Girls at Journey Church had their meeting. We had great food, fun and worship. The Journey Worship team blessed us with music.

Congratulations to Drew and Krista Long, who were married on August 18. They enjoyed a honeymoon in Gatlinburg. We love you!

Prayers go out for Christine Kinney who isn’t doing well. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers, along with Maudie Garnett and Dorothy Hoover.

Oden Ridge Church had a wonderful revival that started on the 4th Sunday of July and ran a week on that weekend. 22 or 23 people were baptized. God is still working!

We were so sorry to hear that Lorene Dunlap’s sister, Dessie Blair, passed away last Sunday in Florida. Her funeral was last Saturday. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Also, Don Self, who is Bobby Beavers’s cousin, was in a bad wreck and is in ICU in Decatur.
