Tigers get final tune-up for regular season

“This was the first time for many of our guys. So they were a little hyped up there at the beginning. We settled down and started playing better,” Godsey said.

“The one thing that really concerned me was the penalties, but other than that, I thought we improved tonight. We didn’t turn the football over and a lot of guys got some experience.”

Sidney Steele opened the scoring for Hartselle by taking Aldridge’s option pitch 46 yards for a touchdown, to make it 6-0 Hartselle early in the second quarter.

Late in the first half, the Tigers put together a 13-play drive to score again. That came after Jamal Jackson recovered a fumble to stop Huntsville.

In the second half, backup quarterback Brett Blackwood led a couple of series resulting in touchdowns. D’Andre Mack scored on an 8-yard run while Tanner Oakes had an 11-yard score.

Mack and Oakes finished with 40 yards on eight carries and 51 yards on six rushes respectively.
