GGGGD Club participates in local charities

The annual meeting of the Great-Great-Great-Granddaughters Club of Joe Wheeler Chapter 291, UDC, was held on July 21 at Sedona Restaurant in Hartselle. Terri Dean, president, presided over the meeting.

Members participated in several local charities, including donations of items to the Hartselle Animal Chapter, Meals-on Wheels, Morgan County Can-A-Thon and Salvation Army Angel Tree.

Lots of cards and items were sent to veterans, including those at the Tutt Fann Veterans Affairs Home and an Assisted Living Facility in Huntsville. One member, Faye McWhorter is involved with the Valor Flight and helped with a Golf Tournament held as a benefit. Members volunteered at a baseball game for the Wounded Warrior Program.

New officers were elected for 2012-2012:

President-Faye McWhorter, Vice President – Terri Dean, Recording Secretary -Glendora James, Treasurer – Kay McCarley and Chaplain – Judy Blackwell.
