Hartselle JV rallies to beat Lawrence County

Hartselle’s JV softball team (24-5) rallied from a 6-1 deficit to beat Lawrence County 9-7 in a regular season game Thursday.

The Lady Tigers allowed Lawrence County to score two in the bottom of the first and four in the bottom of the second inning to take the lead.

Hartselle rallied back to tie the game with five in the top of the fifth inning. Lawrence County scored its last run to retake the lead in the bottom of the fifth.

Then, Hartselle tied the game in the sixth and scored twice in the seventh to earn the win. Haley Jared pitched a scoreless seventh inning to secure the win.

Jared allowed seven earned runs on nine hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. She also went 3-for-5 at the plate including a triple, two RBIs and a run scored.

Taylor Wascavage drove in four runs on a pair of triples. She also scored three times.

Ali Forth, Hannah Jenkins and Morgan Braun all had two hits and one run scored each. Braun added an RBI.

Emily Lipinski, Riley Corum and Sydney Crow all had base hits in the win. Lipinski had an RBI and a stolen base while Corum and Crow both scored runs. Joanna Speer also had a stolen base.

The Lady Tigers racked up 17 hits in the win. Lawrence County also committed five errors.
