Live Nativity was a huge success

Dear Editor,

Joe on a cell phone, Mary with New Balance footwear, shepherds with gum and wise men trying to figure out what to do with myrrh. But when the sun went down and the lights came up, these participants became a part of a holy time from 2,000 years ago.

Yes, all these were present along with a tremendous crowd of area citizens at the Hartselle First United Methodist Church’s Live Nativity on Dec. 10 and 11. It was like a great family reunion. Angels, music, magical lighting, sheep, goats, a friendly camel, calves, an alpaca with a wild haircut and tiny and not so tiny children all found the friendly beasts – well, friendly!

An event of this nature could not have happened without a lot of help. These are some of the businesses and individuals that helped: Somerville Feed and Seed, Byford Plumbing, Corum’s, City of Hartselle, Hartselle Utilities, Hartselle Police Department, Quail Creek Golf Course, Air Tran, and the neighbors on Sloss, Hickory, and Hammit Streets, Hartselle Enquirer, First Choice Printing, WQAH, Decatur Daily, Harold Jeffreys and area TV stations.

Thank you so much for the many that attended “Experience the Story.” It was a wonderful experience for our church and a great addition to our Christmas Season. God Bless You All!

Ellen Hodgen, chairwoman
