Hartselle 7-8 all-stars finish in tie for third

The Hartselle 7-8 American All-Stars finished tied for third in the Dixie Youth Regional World Series in Mulberry, Fla. this week.

In addition to that, Hartselle American received the sportsmanship trophy.

The Tigers began their run with a 14-0 win over Pike County (Ga.) Red on Saturday, July 30.

On Sunday, Hartselle American fell to Darlington (S.C.) 7-5, sending them into the loser’s bracket.

In the loser’s bracket, Hartselle eliminated host team Mulberry (Fla.) with a dominating 19-8 win, setting up a rematch with Darlington.

This time, however, the Tigers were dominant, winning 11-5 and actually held an eight-run lead heading into the final inning. The most runs a team can score is seven runs unless a multi-run over-the-fence home run is hit in the final stanza.

Unfortunately, the Tigers fell to Bushnell (Fla.) in the loser’s bracket final 4-2 in 10 innings. West Seminole (Fla.) defeated Bushnell 9-8 to win the Region II World Series Title.
