Mirdy Frances Nelson

Funeral for Mirdy Frances Nelson, 101 of Somerville will be Sunday, July 31, 2011 at1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Kerry Norman officiating.

Burial will be in Nelson Hollow Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 30, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Miss Nelson died Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Big Springs Specialty Care Center. She was born Friday, August 6, 1909, in Morgan County to Zackary Nelson and Daisy Bell Nelson.

Affectionally known as “Aunt Mirdy,” Miss Nelson dedicated her life to be there for all of her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She was a fighter and loved compassionately with all of her heart.

She is survived by seven nieces,  Lashawn Norman of New Market, Chasey S. Curbow, Glenda Pannell and husband Rae, Nannette Pannell, Coty Way, Susette Smith and Lynette Pannell, all of Somerville; six nephews, Edgar Pannell, Leslie Pannell and Larry Pannell, all of Somerville, Daniel Pannell of Decatur, Wylie James of Falkville and Ricky Pannell of Bowling Green, Ky.; and 12-great-great-great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Daniel Pannell, Trent Pannell, Anthony Curbow, Mike Rae, Pee Wee Goodwin and Zack Way.
