Help children in need by giving school items

It seems like our school children just got out for the summer. Now it’s almost time for them to go back to school. And with this comes a lot of expense at one time. What a great way to be a help to those in need. There are several drop-off places if you would like to donate school supplies. Almost three months after the April 27 tornadoes folks are still struggling to put their lives back together. So the next time you go shopping take a new extra minutes to look down the school supply aisle and be a blessing to some children as they prepare to return to school.

The beautiful flowers on the communion table at New Center Baptist Church on Sunday were placed by Glendell, Kathryn, Jimmy, Frankie, Avery, Larry and Tommy in memory of their dad, Glenn Maples (March 16, 1921 – July 14, 1979).

Evelyn Motes, Linda Bomar, Javon Alldredge and Kay and Kayla Widener enjoyed a shopping trip to Athens recently. They had lunch at Fortune Garden and shopped afterwards until they were ready to drop.

Happy birthday wishes go out this week to Alice Gibson on July 21, Connie Stinnett on July 23, Robert Hopper, Stormie McKelvey and Pam Keel, all on July 25, Rachel Perry and Elizabeth Chisgar, both on July 26, and Bobby Bean and Micah Long, both on July 27.

Happy wedding anniversary to Mark and Cam Emerson on July 22, Tom and Wanda Robinson on July 22, Allon and Carol Burgess on July 23, Mike and Kristi Graham on July 23, Danny and Loria Allen on July 26, and Ricky and Cindy Lackey on July 27. ‘ With the soaring temperatures we’re having, drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Also check on your neighbors to make sure they’re OK. This is a difficult time for those with lung problems.
