Shady Grove Baptist VBS raises money for April 27 storm victims

Shady Grove Baptist Church’s “Big Apple Adventure” Bible School raised $626 for Lawrence County tornado victims. This is an example of helping those in need. May God bless all of you.

The Morgan County Baptist Association will sponsor a senior adult luncheon on Thursday, July 7, at noon. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish.

Special belated happy birthday wishes go out this week to Danna Owen on June 27, Cary Lacy and Zackery Greenhaw, both on June 28, Robert Self, Zackary Vest and Ashley Mullins, all on June 29, Billie Boteler on June 30, Colton Spinks on July 2, Preston Byrd on July 3, and Kaitlin Faulkner, Katy Sparkman and Spencer Phillips, all on July 4.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Jenna Locklear on July 8 and Connor Boyd on July 10.

Jeannie Alexander welcomes everyone to attend the Sunday school class she teaches at McKendree United Methodist Church at Massey. This week, the class is studying Judges 2, a painful saga of the story of Israel.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Kay Farrer on July 7, Robert Summerford on July 12 and Pam Owens on July 13.

Chuck and Kim Parker are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter, Bella Claire. She was born on June 9 weighing seven pounds and two ounces and measuring 18 and one-half inches. Bella’s grandparents are Wesley and Becky Garmany. Laddie and LaVearle Cannon and Charlie and Carolyn Parker. She has three big sisters, Ali, Emma and Callie.

Members of McKendree United Methodist Church are collecting items all summer for the “Red Bird Mission.” This is a ministry that has served the Appalachian region since 1921. It provides support in education, health and wellness, community outreach, economic opportunity and housing community. If you have useable items you’d like to donate to this cause, please do so.

Everyone is invited to attend the McKendree United Methodist Church Sunday school class led by Melee Laney. Class members are Marsha and Hank Summerford, Pam Holmes, Nita Perkins, Kathy and Eric Summerford, Sandy Fields and Tom and Tina Summerford. The class studies and discusses a variety of biblical subjects. This summer it is studying Max Locado’s “Cast of Characters”: and will be looking at the Samaritan woman. Everyone is invited to attend the Wednesday evening service with a covered dish supper at 6:30 p.m., followed by Bible study.
