Community saddened by loss of Mildred Stringer Newton

New Center news

Our community is saddened by the passing of one of our long-time residents, Mrs. Mildred Stringer Newton, on May 20 at the age of 93. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was also a member of New Center Baptist Church where she and her husband of 75 years, James W. Newton, were very instrumental in the growth of the church for many years.  She was preceded in death by a son, James W. Newton Jr. and two brothers, Hubert L. Stringer and William Stringer.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Maxine Gibson and Faye Cobbs; four grandsons, Jerry Cobbs, Jim Gibson, Lee Gibson and Michael Gibson; and a granddaughter, Donna Cobbs Coleman.
Christian love and sympathy is extended to Patsy Haywood in the loss of her nephew, Dustin Slate and the family and friends of Ray Hunkapillar.
A special thank you goes out to all who participated in the WinGS Missions Project for the Children’s Hospital in Birmingham from Beth Miller.
Congratulations to Christopher Creel who is a member of the 2011 graduating class of Priceville High School. He is the son of Richard and Melissa Creel and the grandson of Jerry and Patsy Creel.
Happy birthday wishes go out to Matthew Spicer on June 2, Breanna Patterson on June 3, Pauline Maples on June 4, Daniel Ogle, Kayla Lucas and Joseph Baker, all on June 6, Rena Ogle and Kimberly Spicer, both on June 7, and Buddy Fowler and Christian Lewis, both on June 8.
Happy wedding anniversary wishes go out to Tommy and Sherry Adcock and Chip and Beverly Spicer, both on June 2, Steven and Amber Robinson on June 3, John and Regina Stinson on June 6 and Tommy and Marilyn Blankenship and Billy Ray and Peggy Shadden, both on June 7.
Senior Adult Day will be observed at New Center Baptist Church on Sunday, June 5. Bro. Alfred Palmer will be preaching and  lunch will be served for the honorees at noon. May we be always mindful and never forget those who gave their lives so that we can enjoy the freedom that we are so richly blessed with. May we continue each day to pray for those who are still serving this wonderful country.
