Graduations begin tonight
Hartselle area high schools will award diplomas to more that 700 members of their 2011graduating classes during graduation exercises on Monday and Tuesday, May 23 and 24.
Seniors at Hartselle, Priceville and Falkville High Schools will graduate on Monday, May 23, followed by Brewer and Danville High Schools on Tuesday, May 24. Bethel Baptist School will award diplomas Thursday, May 26.
Hartselle High will hold its commencement at J. P. Cain Stadium on May 23 beginning at 7 p.m.
Principal Jeff Hyche will give the welcome, Superintendent Dr. Mike Reed will extend a greeting to the audience and Cory Livingston will present the class gift. Hope Lewis will give the farewell address and Jeni Abercrombie, Daniel English, Ashley Good and Matt Ramey will lead the class in the singing of the school’s alma mater.
Honor graduates (those with 4.0 or above grade point averages) will be recognized by Principal Hyche and Johnny Berry. Each will received a medal.
Diplomas will be awarded by Principal Hyche with assistance from Dr. Reed and Kenneth Lopez.
Priceville High will conduct commencement at Bulldog Stadium on Monday beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Class valedictorian Austin Sorrells and salutatorian Amberley Norris will have speaking party on the program. Tommy Kyle will be the guest speaker.
Class members Colin Campbell and Cale Holloway will sing “September” by Chris Daughtry.
Principal Mark Mason will present diplomas to 95 members of the senior class. He will be assisted by Dennis Morris, assistant principal and Carmen Munger, senior class sponsor.
Falkville High will hold commencement in Drake Gymnasium on Monday beginning at 7 p.m. Speeches will be given by Crystal Morris, valedictorian, and Logan Smith, salutatorian.
Principal Sue Wood will present diplomas to 52 seniors. She will be assisted by Keith Wilemon, assistant principal, and Ken James, counselor.
Brewer High will conduct commencement in the school’s football stadium on Tuesday beginning at 7 p.m. Honor graduates Pamela Sutton, Deonna Looney, Carrie Keener, Leah Burns, Bobbie Jean Scott, Joshua Chatham and Robert Pendley will have speaking parts on the program. Cherie Olivier will lead the class in the singing of the school alma mater.
Principal Cliff Booth will present diplomas to approximately 195 members of the senior class. He will be assisted by Robbie Elliott, assistant principal, and Mark Edwards.
Danville High will hold commencement in the football stadium on Tuesday beginning at 7 p.m. Co-valedictorians Kaitlin Wallace and Lindsay Simmons ands Salutatorian Ben Barnett will have speaking parts on the program.
Principal Gilmer Ellis will present diplomas to approximately 85 senior class members.
Bethel Baptist School will conduct commencement on Thursday, May 26, at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Rev. Walter Schmidt will be the guest speaker and Valedictorian Bryant Missildine will also speak.
