Winter storm watch issued for Tuesday, Wednesday
The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a winter storm watch for the Tennessee Valley including Morgan County.
The weather service is predicting that a storm system will begin as rain on Tuesday and change over to snow by Tuesday night.
“Total snowfall accumulations around two to four inches are currently expected,” according to a weather service statement. “However, some heavier narrow banding of snow may occur with locally higher amounts possible. Considerable uncertainty with specific snow amounts still exists.”
Snow is expected to begin accumulating on roadways after midnight Wednesday. Winds of more than 15 miles per hour could also cause the snow to blow and drift, causing very low visibility for travel.
