Downs, Garner to wed

Ricky and Donna Downs of Madison announce the engagement of their daughter, Kayla Jo Downs, to Jeffery Stratton Garner, son of Jeff and Jennifer Garner of Hartselle.
The future bride is the granddaughter of L.F. and Barbara Carter of Athens and Vaughn and Olean Downs of Madison. A 2006 graduate of Athens Bible School, she graduated in 2007 from the Dental Assisting Program at Calhoun Community College and from the Alabama Dental Hygiene Program in 2009. She is employed at Monrovia Family Dentistry in Madison as a dental hygienist.
The future groom is the grandson of Kenneth and Betty Stephenson Harpe of Hartselle and Charles and Elnora Garner of Danville and the late Jimmie Stephenson. His great-grandmother is Mildred Stephenson of Hartselle. He is a 2006 graduate of Danville High School and graduated in 2010 from the Mechanical Maintenance program at Calhoun Community College. He is employed by Nucor Steel in Decatur and is pursuing a management degree from Athens State University.
The wedding is planned for Oct. 30, 2010, at First Baptist Church of Tanner.
