Owens, Elkins wed

Mr. and Mrs. Brandon Elkins (Amanda Owens)

Amanda Whitney Owens of Hartselle and Brandon Scott Elkins of Hartselle were wed Aug. 28, 2010, at 4 p.m. at Hartselle Church of Christ.
The bride is the daughter of Gary and Beth Owens of Hartselle. She is the granddaughter of Harold and Glenda Nau of Hartselle, Sue Morgan of Hanceville and the great-granddaughter of Jeanette Pitts of Hanceville . The groom is the son of Scott and Glenda Elkins of Hartselle. He is the grandson of Marie Elkins of Huntsville and Ruth Davis of Decatur.
Phillip Hines presided over the ceremony. The front of the church featured white columns with an archway decorated with clear crystals.
A candle was placed in front in memory of Jim Reed.
The bride was given in marriage by her father, who escorted her down the aisle to the Matt Reynolds singing “I Loved Her First.”
She wore a white strapless beaded designer gown covered with lace, pearls and clear crystals. It featured a trumpet skirt with shirred tulle bodice and a three-foot train.
Her shoulder-length veil was handmade by Mary Alice Wynn and accented with pearls and clear crystals. She carried a bouquet of calla lillies and stargazers.
Ashleigh Reed, sister of the bride, of Hartselle, was matron of honor. Bridemaids were Mary Evelyn Owens, cousin of the bride, of Enterprise, Megan Summerford of Hartselle, Allyson Pouncy of Hartselle and Megan Graves of Hartselle. Junior bridesmaid was Katie Elkins, sister of the groom, of Hartselle.
The bridesmaids wore watermelon-colored knee length taffeta dresses and carried pink cala lillies with a spray of crystals.
Flower girl was Kadyn Handley of Danville. Ring bearer was Carter Wimberly, cousin of the groom, of Hartselle.
Josh Elkins, brother of the groom, of Hartselle, was best man. Groomsmen were John Drane of Hartselle, Joseph Dowd of Hartselle, A.J. Brown of Hartselle and Eric Reed, brother-in-law of bride, of Hartselle.
Junior groomsman was John Martin Owens, cousin of the bride, of Enterprise.
Doug Owens, uncle of the bride, of Enterprise, was the scripture reader. Music was provided by Mark Reynolds and Matt Reynolds, soloists, of Hartselle. Sound was provided by Phillip Binkley of Hartselle.
A reception was held at the church following the ceremony.
The bride’s table featured a four-layer cake covered with pink icing and featuring brown dots, stripes and a scroll letter “E”. Topping the cake was a crystal encrusted E. A candy bar featured homemade candies, large suckers, jelly beans and a chocolate fountain with fruit, marshmallows and pretzel sticks.
The groom’s table featured a three-tiered basket weave cake with chocolate fudge icing covered with strawberries. The table was decorated with a Tennessee Volunteers theme. It also featured an ice sculpture of the bride and groom.
The wedding was directed by Deborah Owens, aunt of the bride, of Enterprise. Assisting with the reception were Beverly Summerford, Jerri Swann, Mary Alice Wynn, Betty Sims, Megan Harbin, Marilyn Busby, Linda Bohannon, Jennifer Ledlow and Lisa Taylor. Britny Cobb of Hartselle attended the bridal book.
After a wedding trip to Cozumel, Mexico, the couple will live in Hartselle.
The couple was honored with several pre-nuptial parties, including:
• A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents at the church the night before the wedding.
• An engagement party was hosted by the bride’s parents and Ashleigh and Eric Reed June 19 at the home of the bride’s parents.
• A bridal shower was held July 25 at the home of Ruth Davis of Decatur and hosted by Linda Bohannon and Jennifer Ledlow.
• A holiday shower was held July 31 hosted by Kathy Reed at her home.
• A bridal tea was held Aug. 1 at Hartselle Church of Christ and hosted by the ladies of the church.
• The employees of Walgreen’s on the Beltline in Decatur hosted a bridal shower at the store Aug. 20.
• A bachelor party was hosted by the groomsmen and friends of the groom in Nashville, Tenn. on Aug. 20.
• A bachelorette and lingerie party was hosted by the bridal attendants and friends of the bride in Huntsville on Aug. 21.
