Funeral for Mavis Kelsoe Vernon, 84, of Danville was Tue., Sept. 21, at 2 p.m. at Lebanon Methodist Church in Speake with the Rev. Francis Proctor officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Lebanon Cemetery.
Mrs. Kelsoe died Sun., Sept. 19, 2010, at National Health Care Center in Moulton. She was born May 16, 1926, in Lawrence County to William Riley Kelsoe and Travis Elisabeth Chaney Kelsoe. A member of Lebanon Methodist Church, she loved music, dancing and traveling and will be missed greatly by her children and family. She was a respected member of the community and loved by the staff at NHC of Moulton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lenard Leon Vernon; a son, Larry Don Vernon; 10 brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Darrell Vernon and wife Laura of Falkville and Jamie Vernon and wife Ethel of Speake; three daughters, Sheila Miller and husband Jimmy of Hartselle, Linda Taylor and husband Bob of Somerville and Connie Whitlow and husband Jeff of Neel; a brother, Bill Kelsoe of Speake; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Chris Keenum, Chuck Keenum, Rodney Taylor, Jason Vernon, Jake Vernon and Logan Whitlow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
