Cranberry Dressing
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup cranberry juice
Blend together the mayonnaise and cranberry juice. Serve on salads.

Strawberry Spread
1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
1 package cream cheese
Soften cream cheese and blend with strawberries. Spread on bread to make a sandwich. Can be used on toast.

Grasshopper Pie
24 filled chocolate cookies, crushed
1 stick of margarine
1 pint cream, whipped
1 8 ounce jar of marshmallow crème
1/4 cup crème de menthe
Mix cookies with margarine. Press into a 9-inch plate. Bake for 350 degrees for five minutes. Mix whipped cream with marshmallow crème. Add crème de menthe and mix well. Pour into cooled crust. Freeze. Makes eight servings.

Ham with Orange Sauce
1 fully cooked ham slice (can use canned ham)
1 cup orange juice
2 T brown sugar
1/2 cup raisins
Place ham slices in a shallow baking dish. Combine orange juice, brown sugar and raisins in sauce pan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and pour over slices of ham. Warm at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes.

Tea Crackers
40 graham crackers or cinnamon crackers
1 cup margarine
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup chopped nuts of your choice
Arrange crackers on cookie sheet. Boil margarine and brown sugar and nuts for two minutes. Spread mixture over crackers. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

A baby shower was given for Chad and Maebee Halbrooks Aug. 22 at First Baptist Church. Hostesses for the event were the young women of the church.
Nancy Dunlap and Sylvia Halbrooks registered the guests.
The party room was filled with arrangements of baby breath, ivy, roses and mixed flowers.

Marinated corn salad
3 15 oz. cans whole kernel corn, drained
1 red pepper, chopped
1 cup chopped walnuts
3/4 cup chopped celery
1 bottle Italian salad dressing
In a bowl with a lid, combine corn, pepper, walnuts and celery. Pour salad dressing over vegetables and refrigerate several hours before serving.

Sweet and Sour Red Cabbage
1 medium red cabbage, cut into small pieces
1 cup tomato juice
1/2 lemon
1 package Sweet ‘N Low (more if needed)
Salt and peper to taste
Cook the cabbage, covered in tomato juice. When the cabbage is cooked, add all the other ingredients. Refrigerate.

Baked Hominy and Cheese
1 egg
2 cans white hominy, rinsed and drained
8 pieces of American cheese, cubed
3/4 cup milk
1/2 small onion, chopped
1 tablespoon margarine, melted
1/4 tsp. pepper
Beat egg in a large bowl. Add hominy, cheese, milk, onion, margarine and pepper and mix well. Spoon into a greased baking dish. Bake uncovered for 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until bubbly and top begins to brown. Let stand for a few minutes before serving. Yields eight servings.
I won second place in a cookoff with this recipe. I hope you will like it.

To save money at the grocery store, pay cash instead of a check. That way you will not spend as much. Stick to your list.

Start making your plans to attend the Falkville Blue Devils football game Oct. 1 They will play host to Cold Springs. Pray that the officials will show up for this game. Sometime in the 1980’s it was homecoming and the Blue Devils were playing Cold Springs and the officials did not make their appearance until the end of the game.
The game was finally played. I think of this every every time I hear of Cold Springs football.
