Lacey’s Springs man killed
A Lacey’s Springs man was killed and his passengers seriously injured when the vehicle he was driving veered out of control and plunged off a 20-foot bluff Saturday night.
Robert Hardage, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene by Morgan County Coroner Russ Beard. His passenger, Phillip Oaks, also 37, of Lacey’s Spring, was injured and transported by ambulance to Huntsville Hospital.
The accident occurred at approximately 8:50 p.m. on Union Hill Road in the Union Grove community, according to state troopers. The location of the wrecked vehicle required a rescue operation involving the Cotaco Volunteer Fire Department and Brindlee Mountain Volunteer Fire Department’s high angle rescue team.
The accident continues under investigation by state troopers.
