Blocked extra point seals Priceville’s fate at Wilson

FLORENCE – Priceville’s run of tough luck didn’t get any better Friday night with a 14-13 loss to Wilson in a Class 4A, Region 8 game on the road.
Wilson blocked a late extra point attempt to preserve a 14-13 victory over Priceville.
The loss extended Priceville’s losing streak to 12 games dating back to last season.
Two of Priceville’s three losses this season have come by a total of just three points.
Trailing by a touchdown late in the game, the Bulldogs drove 80 yards and scored on a 27-yard run by Chance Ellsworth to trim the Wilson lead to just one point.
Tyler Stann came up with the block of the extra point to help the Warriors hold off Priceville.
Priceville dropped to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in Region 8 play, while Wilson improved to 2-1 and 2-0.
Wilson had 144 yards in the air to help hold off Priceville in the region battle.
Wilson took the lead for the first time in the game when Hunter Blevins scorded on a 2-yard touchdown run from his end position late in the second quarter.
Blevins finished the night with five catches for 86 yards. He also ran for 24 yards and a touchdown in the win.
Priceville answered with a touchdown near the end of the second quarter when Ellsworth threw a 14-yard scoring strike to John Hawkins.
In the third quarter, Blevins intercepted a pass deep in Priceville territory and the Warriors scored four plays later on a 4-yard run by Hunter Thorp with 5:14 remaining in the third quarter.
But Priceville was in position to tie the game after getting the late Ellsworth touchdown.
