Hartselle wins 3M Trail Trials titles

Hartselle’s cross country program, revived this season after being dormant for several decades, won both of the varsity team titles at the 3M Trail Trials last Thursday in Decatur.
The boys’ team had five runners place in the top 13 spots on the way to a six-point win.
Eighth grader Jonathan Duncan finished third overall after running a 20:41.81.
Also earning top 10 finishes were Noah Battles (sixth, 21:18.49), Cameron Cunningham (seventh, 21:32.03), Tristen Mitchell (ninth, 22:01.28) and Alex Wilt (13th, 22:26.40).
Priceville finished fourth in the boys’ 5K race with 99 points.
The Bulldogs’ Tim Rayman was 13th overall after running the course in 22:10.06.
Priceville had a group of four runners finish within eight spots of each other. Justin Dozier was 30th at 24:55.68, followed by Tyler Johnson (32nd, 25:03.07), Jackson Morris (36th, 26:24.86) and Spencer Johnson (37th, 26:25.88).
Hartselle’s girls had three runners finish in the top 10 – Savannah Morgan (fourth, 26:51), Joy Harris (eighth, 30:06) and Haley Baker (30:44) – to lead the Lady Tigers.
Sara Walker, Cheyenne Sanchez and Lindsey Elmore finished 18th-20th.
Priceville’s Alisha Burchell was 11th overall with a time of 31:06.67.
Paige Terry (33:36) and Toni Jo Gautney (33:41) were 14th and 15th overall respectively.
Also scoring for the Lady Bulldogs were Alice Gibson and Samantha Yarbrough.
