Dorothy Jane Harp Lewis

Funeral for Dorothy Jane Harp Lewis, 81, of Hartselle was Wednesday, Aug. 4, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Greg Alred officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur.
Mrs. Lewis died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010, at her residence. She was born Aug. 31, 1928, in Morgan County to Charlie Calvin Harp and Josie Sowell Harp. She had a great love for horses and devoted her spare time to rescuing and caring for all animals. She was a beloved child of God, a loving mother who devoted her entire life to caring for a special son and always being there for her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed, but lovingly remembered.
She is survived by a son, Robert Lee Lewis of Hartselle; two daughters, Shirley Lewis Barnes and husband Bobby and Kathy Lewis Helton and husband Russell, all of Hartselle; a brother, Harlan C. Harp of Hartselle; a sister, Barbara A. Ward of Decatur; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Gilbert Milton Barnes, Jon Elam, William E. Ward, Brent Barnes, Brian Helton and Bobby Neil.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Omega Hospice of Cullman.
