Danville FFA earns honors

School earns banner for having 100 percent membership

The Danville FFA Chapter was awarded recognition for having 100 percent of their students serve as FFA members. Only about 10 chapters from across the state were able to accomplish this goal. Taylor Walton, Danville FFA member, received the award on behalf of the Danville FFA Chapter.
Jake Wilbourn of the Danville FFA Chapter placed 1st in the State FFA Dairy Production Proficiency Contest held in Montgomery. He received a check, plaque and chapter banner for his accomplishments. He will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind. in October representing Alabama. Wilbourn is the son of Charlie and Kristie Wilbourn. The Danville FFA advisor is Sandy Fields.
Conner Boyd of the Danville FFA Chapter placed third in the State FFA Landscaping Management Proficiency Contest held at the State FFA Convention in Montgomery. He received a check and chapter banner for his accomplishments. Boyd is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Boyd. The Danville FFA advisor is Sandy Fields.
Josh Jones of the Danville FFA Chapter placed second in the State FFA Nursery Operations Proficiency Contest held at the State FFA Convention in Montgomery. He received a check and chapter banner for his accomplishments. Jones is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Jones. The Danville FFA advisor is Sandy Fields.
Levi George of the Danville FFA Chapter placed fourth in the State FFA Agriculture Mechanics Proficiency Contest held at the State FFA Convention in Montgomery. He received a check and chapter banner for his accomplishments. George is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy George. The Danville FFA advisor is Sandy Fields.
The Danville FFA Livestock CDE Team placed second in the state contest held at Auburn University. Team members are (Back L-R) Hunter Garnett, Cody Clemons, Quinn Roberts and Jordan Turney. (Front L-R) Rochelle St. Amand, Zach Daniel and Katie McCary. Hunter and Rochelle were the over-all top individual scorers in the contest. The team received a check and banner for their accomplishments. The contest consisted of placing cattle, hogs, sheep and goats, oral reasons, written test, and keep/cull team activities. Sandy Fields is the Danville FFA advisor.
Jake Wilbourn of the Danville FFA Chapter was selected District Star Farmer in the State of Alabama. He was a finalist for State Star Farmer. This award goes to the outstanding FFA members in the state. He received a check and chapter banner for his accomplishments. The award was presented at the State FFA Convention held in Montgomery. Wilbourn is the son of Charlie and Kristie Wilbourn. Sandy Fields is the Danville FFA advisor.
Hunter Garnett of the Danville FFA Chapter placed 1st in the State FFA Grain Production Proficiency Contest held in Montgomery. He received a check, plaque and chapter banner for his accomplishments. Hunter will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind. in October representing Alabama. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Garnett. Sandy Fields is the Danville FFA advisor.
Rodney Byrd of the Danville FFA Chapter placed 1st in the State FFA Diversified Crop Production Proficiency Contest held in Mongomery. He received a check, plaque and chapter banner for his accomplishments. He will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind. in October representing Alabama. Byrd is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Byrd. Sandy Fields is the Danville FFA advisor.
