Wreck kills one, injures another

A Somerville woman was killed while on her way to a beauty salon appointment and a Somerville man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision on Upper River Road in Priceville early Saturday morning.
The crash victim was identified as Jerrie Ash, 65, of 2057 Cain Road. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Morgan County Coroner Dale Johns.
Gregory Allen Mote, 42, of 13 English Creek Drive sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital. He was listed in critical condition as a patient in the surgical intensive care unit on Sunday.
Priceville police officers responded to the head-on crash at 5:05 a.m. The mishap occurred about one-quarter mile west of the I-65 overpass.
Mrs. Ash was en route to Fashion Aire to have her hair styled when the wreck occurred, a practice she had followed for about 35 years, according to her son, Jeremy Jones.
The accident is still under investigation.
