Funeral for Vickey Lynn Hall, 61, of Somerville, was Wed., June 23, at 1 p.m. at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Orville Collins officiating.
Burial was at Shoal Creek Cemetery.
Ms. Hall died Sun., June 20, 2010, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 4, 1948. She graduated in 1965 from Decatur High School and received her Doctorate in Education from the University of Alabama. She retired from Calhoun Community College after 30 years as a professor in the School of Business. After retirement, she opened Therapeutic Massage with business partner and friend, Anita Johnson. She was a massage therapist for Intergraph Corporation and Parkway Medical Center. She attended Oak Park Baptist Church in Decatur. She was a people person and never met a stranger. She enjoyed working and found great joy in being able to connect with so many people. She loved and was loved by all who knew her and shared a particularly close bond with her daughter whom she resided with at the time of her death. She was strong in life and strong in death; every bit the example for her family in all things. She was preceded in death by her parents, Belton Hall and Vera Swann Hall; two brothers, Rickey Hall and Roger Hall; and a stepdaughter, Shelly Starr.
She is survived by her husband, Lowell Starr of Somerville; a daughter, Nikki Eddy of Decatur; a sister, Velma Hall of Hillsboro; four nieces; four nephews; four great-nieces; four great-nephews; and many friends.
Pallbearers were Kevin Bradley, Shannon Sandlin, Ricky Bradley, Marvin Landry, Nick Meadows and Thomas Harris.
