Puckett is Father of the Year

Ronald Puckett, accompanied by his wife Shirley, accepts the 2010 Father of the Year” Award from Morgan County Cattlewomen’s President Cathy Crow (L).

Ronald Puckett of Trinity has been recognized by Morgan County Cattlewomen as ”Father of the Year” for 2010.
A cattle farmer who retired from Thiokol in 1987, Puckett received an engraved plaque and a gift certificate from the Sedona Steakhouse to commemorate the honor at a Morgan County Cattlemen’s meeting Thursday night.
Cathy Crow, president, presented the award.
“I thank the ladies for choosing me,” Puckett said. “It’s quite an honor. I’m humbled but feel undeserving.”
Puckett is a native of Morgan County and a graduate of the former Riverside High School in Decatur.
He attended Tennessee Valley State Technical School where he earned a degree in drafting. He worked for Thiokol in its engineering department for 30 years.
He now spends a lot of his time tending his farm and its 30 mixed-breed brood cows.
Puckett is a Meals on Wheels volunteer and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he teaches a Sunday school class. He has been a member of the Cattlemen’s Association for 20 years and served as a board member for several terms.
He and his wife Shirley have a son, Jack Puckett and daughter-in-law, Donna, and a granddaughter, Lauren.
