Glenn Pierce ‘Pappy’ Hamlett

Funeral for Glenn Pierce  “Pappy” Hamlett, 67, of Falkville will be Thursday, (today), June 3, at 1 p.m. at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Phillip Hines officiating.
Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery.
Mr. Hamlett died Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at his residence. He was born July 17, 1942, in Pulaski, Tenn. to Willard B. Hamlett and Adrian LaShay Hamlett. He graduated from Giles County, Tenn. High School in 1960 and worked for United Parcel Service for 28 years. He enjoyed his work and loved all of his fellow workers. After retirement, he worked for a time training drivers for their CDL licenses. His favorite pastime was being with his family. He loved his grandchildren dearly and family and friends will miss him greatly.
He was a member and deacon of Hartselle Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his father, Willard B. Hamlett and his mother, Hazel P. Hamlett, and a brother, David Wayne Hamlett
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Garner Hamlett; four sons, Kevin Zane Hamlett and wife Tara and Kerry Lane Hamlett and wife Andrea, all of Hartselle; Casey Glenn Hamlett and wife Anita of Prattville and Jonathan Ray Hamlett and wife Misty of Cullman; a daughter, Rhonda Lanelle Hilliard and husband Jeff of Hartselle; eight grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Hilliar, Jon Alex Hilliar, Zane Alexander Hamlett, Kyle Stephens Hamlett, Kenzie Elizabeth Hamlett, Gracie Marie Hamlett, Landon Pierce Hamlett, Adrian LaShay Busby and a sister, Martha H. Flanagan of Rogersville.
Pallbearers will be Andy Dukes, James Kifer, Cooper Wiggington, Bobby Fox, Jimmy Summerford, Scott Forsythe, Tony Parker and Keith Rigoni.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dee Proctor, Talmadge Reynolds, Bob Smith, Tom Snead, Darrell Sims, Ben Callaway and Earl Warren.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to Hospice of the Valley, Dr. Dukes, Mike Preuitt, Hartselle Medical Center employees and all of his doctors and nurses at Vanderbilt Transplant Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Hartselle Church of Christ youth group or Hospice of the Valley.
