Hartselle falls short against Decatur

Sam Fleischman scored a game-high 26 points in Hartselle’s Saturday matinee game with Decatur at the J.C. Pettey Center.
The Tigers trailed by 13 points after the half before rallying to trim the gap to just four points late in the game.
Torrick Spangler led Decatur with 22 points, while William Johnson added 20 points.
Hatton 56, Danville 53
Dillon Childers led Danville with 13 points in a 56-53 loss to Danville.
Eric Cordova added 12 points, while Dylan Woods finished with 10 points in the loss for the Hawks.
Hatton’s Luke Brackin led all scorers with 17 points, while Steadman Rutherford and Nick Hood added 10 points each.
Priceville 70, LCHS 53
Stephen Starkey had a double-double as Priceville beat Lawrence County by 17 points.
Starkey and Tyler Croft had 12 points each in the win, while Starkey added 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
Michael Varner and John Hawkins added eight points each.
Lawrence County was led by Anthony Brackins’ 13 points.
Brewer 59, Priceville 52
Brandon Murray and Taylor Bowling scored 14 and 12 points respectively as Brewer knocked off Priceville.
Brett Lavender added eight points for the Patriots in the win.
Priceville’s Stephen Starkey led the Bulldogs with 13 points. Tyler Croft and Brock Boyd added 10 points each.
Hartselle 53, East Lawrence 51
Sam Fleischman had 18 points and eight rebounds as Hartselle beat East Lawrence.
The Tigers’ Jake Hartsell scored on a last second shot to send Hartselle to the win.
Terry Wiggins and Aaron Wooley added 16 and nine points respectively.
East Lawrence’s Orlando Davis and Martin Garner finished the night with 14 and 13 points respectively.
Girls
Decatur 55, Hartselle 44
Decatur’s Britney McCloud had a team-high 22 points as the Lady Red Raiders beat Hartselle on the road Saturday afternoon.
Kendra McCloud added 18 points in the win.
Hartselle senior Callie Miller led the Lady Tigers with 15 points. Katie Young added eight points, while Alex Holmes finished with six points.
Priceville 70, LCHS 65
Melissa Johnson posted a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds to help send Priceville to a win over Lawrence County.
Presley Darling had a team-high 17 points for the Lady Bulldogs.
Jazlyn Fossett scored 27 points for Lawrence County.
Danville 48, Hatton 34
Hannah McClung and Ashley Nance scored 12 and 10 points respectively to lead Danville to a 15-point win over Hatton.
Sarah Terry added eight points in the win.
Hatton, who scored just 14 points in the second half, was led by Jordan Johnson’s 24 points.
Brewer 72, Priceville 53
Brewer continued its dominance over Priceville with a 72-53 victory.
The Lady Patriots, last year’s Class 5A state runnerup, have never lost to Priceville.
Chelsey Smith scored 16 points to lead Brewer’s offense. Elizabeth Bromirski and B.J. Scott added 15 points each.
Presley Darling scored 15 points to lead Priceville. Amber Smith and Melissa Johnson added nine points each in the loss.
Hartselle 61, East Lawrence 42
Taylor White scored a game-high 17 points and Katie Young added 12 points as Hartselle routed East Lawrence on the road.
East Lawrence got 15 points from Latoya Wright.
Danville 64, Falkville 26
Ashley Nance scored 21 points as Danville pulled away from Falkville in the second half with a 35-6 run.
Hannah McClung added nine points and seven rebounds.
Falkville’s Sarah Goodman led the Lady Blue Devils with eight points.
