County schools land grants

By By Clif Knight, Hartselle Enquirer
Grants totaling $180,000 from the Alabama Public School and College Authority will fund capital improvement projects at three Morgan County schools.
State Senator Arthur Orr, R-Decatur, delivered three checks, one in the amount of $80,000 and two in the amount of $50,000 each, to Morgan County Superintendent Bob Balch Oct. 7.
West Morgan High School will use the $80,000 grant to help make repairs and renovations to its entryway. Work will include the replacement of windows and repainting.
Priceville High School and Danville-Neel Elementary School each received a $50,000 grant. The money will be used to add a bleacher section at the Priceville football stadium and replace the gymnasium floor at Danville-Neel School.
Orr said he worked with the governor, state finance director and state superintendent of education to obtain the funds.
Balch said all three projects are in the school system’s capital improvement plan as being needed but unfunded.
