Funeral for John T. Vines, 80, of Hartselle, was Fri., Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Hartselle with the Revs. Harold Thompson and Robert Sparkman officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery.
Mr. Vines died Tues., Sept. 22, 2009, at his residence. He was born May 25, 1929, in Crenshaw County to John Thomas Vines and Ola Bea Burgins Vines. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hartselle and was employed for 33 years with AT&T. He had a military career of two years in the Navy, three years in the Army and 22 years in the National Guard. He retired from the U.S. Army as a major.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Frances Vest Vines of Hartselle; two sons, Thomas Alan Vines and wife Patti and Patrick David Vines and wife Samantha, all of Birmingham; two daughters, Nancy Jo Vines Walker and husband Billy of Apex, N.C. and Pamela Jean Vines Shurett and husband Scott of Birmingham; a sister, Linda Vines Phillips and husband Frank of Atlanta, Ga.; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons and nephews.
