Fall Cleanup Week set for Sept. 28-Oct. 3

By By Clif Knight, Hartselle Enquirer
Morgan County Commissioners have designated Sept. 28- Oct. 3 as Fall Cleanup Week in Morgan County.
The annual event, headed up by Ricky Brooks, director of Morgan County Environmental Services, encourages Adopt-A-Mile volunteers and others to remove litter from roadsides and public places.
Residents are also invited to use the Morgan County Landfill and large receptacles at the four district shops to dispose of unwanted junk items like discarded furniture and appliances.
There is no charge for this service. Proof of residence is required.
District shops will accept junk items anytime during regular operating hours Monday, Sept. 28, through Thursday, Oct. 1 and again on Oct. 3 from 7 – 11 a.m. The county landfill will also accept the same items free of charge during normal operating hours throughout the week.
Non-acceptable items include roof shingles, tires, household garbage, yard waste, lumber or hazardous materials.
The commission approved the cleanup dates at Monday’s meeting.
