Readers join in Eva summer program

Readers followed the theme of “Be Creative at your Library” this summer at Eva Public Library.
One hundred and eight children registered for the program with an average of 55 at each of the nine programs. Programs included a visit from T and N Acres with animals to see and touch, a puppet drama presented by Children’s Educational Theatre from Decatur, and making ice cream with Soil and Conservation Service.
A total of 68 turned in reading logs that entitled them to a free T-shirt, free fast food coupons and other prizes.
Two thousand eighty-nine books with 89,963 pages were read. Prizes were given for the top readers in each category with the first place winner in each group receiving a $50 savings bond donated by Eva Bank and Premier Bank.
The winners were: Grades K-1, Zaelea Long, first; Julie Beavers, second; and John Michael Landers, third.
Grades 2-3, Erik and Alex Cloer, first; Kaitlyn Benson, second; Audrey Woodruff, third.
Grades 4-5, Claudia Landers, first; Aubriana Whitney, second; Jake Vincent, third.
Grades 6-7, Opal Whitney, first; Hannah McNutt, second; Sarah Miller, third.
