Falkville church fire caused by lightning

By By Clif Knight, Hartselle Enquirer
A lightning strike followed by a fire during a Friday morning thunderstorm caused moderate damage to First Faith Church in Falkville and forced its members to conduct worship services in a temporary location Sunday.
He said firefighter Monty Cody, who fell about eight feet from a ladder, suffered a sprained ankle and was treated and released at Cullman Regional Medical Center.
Church officer Billy Bryan said the sanctuary, located at 1153 Culver Road, will be repaired and reopened as soon as possible. In the meantime, the fellowship hall, which was not affected, will remain in use and worship services will be held in the Woodman Building across the street.
Stidham said Ebenezer VFD provided backup assistance and firefighters remained on the scene about one and one-half hours.
