Funeral for Prentiss M. "P.M." Long, 73, of Decatur was Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m. at Bible Baptist Church in Hartselle with the Revs. Charles Sparks, Jerry Burns and Jimmy Wright officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Long died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at St. Vincent's Hospital East, Birmingham. He was born Aug. 30, 1934, in Lawrence County to Arle Long and Annie Terry Long. He was a member and deacon of Bible Baptist Church. He sang gospel music for 38 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Orville Long and Mason Long.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Brown Long of Decatur; three sons, Steve Long and wife Joyce and Ricky Long and wife Ramona, all of Moulton and Randy Long and wife Sandra of Hartselle; a daughter, Tammy Oaks and husband Brian of Decatur; a sister, Melba Goodwin of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons and his son-in-law.
