Signups offered for Christmas assistance

The Salvation Army will be assisting low income families with food for Christmas dinner, as well as toys for those ages 13 and younger. Applicants may include couples, single heads of households and senior citizens.
Applications will be accepted Oct. 30 - Nov. 3 at the Salvation Army Gymnasium at 114 14th Street in Decatur.
Applications must be made in person by the head of household and only one application per dwelling will be considered to include all members of the household. Applicants must bring personal identification (Social Security card, driver’s license, etc.) for each household member.
Verification of birthdays (birth certificate) for all children 13 and younger will be required. Current rent and utility bill or proof of property taxes paid is also required, along with a phone number where applicant can be reached and verification of all income in the household, such as a check stub from a job, proof of public assistance.
No applications will be accepted over the phone and no children will be allowed in the gymnasium. This is the Salvation Army’s last signup of the year.
