Fourth in a series

By Staff
Tracy B. Cieniewicz, Hartselle Enquirer
The Hartselle Police Department Citizens Academy was all fired up for its first field exercise at Hartselle’s A-Course shooting range.
Officer, Firearms Instructor and Special Response Team member Chip Reynolds instructed the class on range operations, firearm safety and shooting fundamentals before the class was taken to the shooting range.
Each student was assigned an officer to assist him or her in the proper use and handling of an HPD standard issue Glock 22 handgun with a 15-round magazine.
Once students became comfortable with their weapon through a series of firing exercises, a Top Gun round was held with students firing 15 rounds of ammunition beginning at the 25-yard mark and progressing to the 5-yard mark. Bob Jaques and Nancy Busby were named Top Guns in the class.
