Priceville Town Council

The regular bi-monthly meeting of the Priceville Town Council was held on Tuesday, Sept.5 at the Priceville Municipal Building.
Mayor Melvin Duran called the meeting to order at 7 p.m.
Kelly Dean, Town Clerk gave the roll call with the Councilman Tim Crow absent.
Councilman Sam Heflin gave the invocation.
Councilman Tommy Perry made the motion to approve the work session minutes of Thursday, Aug. 24 as printed. Councilman Wayne Dunkin seconded the motion. The motion carried with a unanimous roll call vote of the following: Councilman Wayne Dunkin-yes, Councilman Sam Heflin-yes, Councilman John Oakley-yes, Councilman Tommy Perry-yes, and Mayor Melvin Duran-yes.
Councilman Sam Heflin made the motion to approve the previous minutes of Thursday, Aug. 24 as printed. Councilman Wayne Dunkin seconded the motion. The motion carried with a unanimous roll call vote of the following: Councilman Wayne Dunkin-yes, Councilman Sam Heflin-yes, Councilman John Oakley-yes, Councilman Tommy Perry-yes, and Mayor Melvin Duran-yes.
Councilman Tommy Perry made the motion to amend the agenda to include a question from Councilman John Oakley. Councilman Wayne Dunkin seconded the motion. The motion carried with a unanimous roll call vote of the following: Councilman Wayne Dunkin-yes, Councilman Sam Heflin-yes, Councilman John Oakley-yes, Councilman Tommy Perry-yes, and Mayor Melvin Duran-yes.

Public Hearing: Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006 at 7 p.m. to rezone one acre from A-1, Agriculture District to R-1, Single Family Residential District the property owned by Joel and Johlynn Snyder on Skidmore Road.

Sonny Wright: Thank you Mr. Mayor. It is the time set by the Town Council to hear public input on consideration changing the zoning map for the Town of Priceville the change is one acre on Skidmore Road from A-1 to R-1 it is on the west side of Skidmore about a quarter mile north of Greenfield Subdivision. If anyone would like to speak to this I would ask they come forward to the microphone and state your name this meeting is being recorded. Another chance would anyone like to speak for or against? Mr. Mayor there seems to be no public comments I will close this public hearing.

Councilman Sam Heflin made the motion to suspend the rules to hear Ordinance 2006-04: An Ordinance amending the zoning map for the Town of Priceville to rezone one acre of the property owned by Joel and Johlynn Snyder on Skidmore Road from A-1, Agriculture District to R-1, Single Family Residential District. Councilman Wayne Dunkin seconded the motion. The motion carried with a unanimous roll call vote of the following: Councilman Wayne Dunkin-yes, Councilman Sam Heflin-yes, Councilman John Oakley-yes, Councilman Tommy Perry-yes, and Mayor Melvin Duran-yes.
Councilman Sam Heflin made the motion to adopt Ordinance 2006-04: An Ordinance amending the zoning map for the Town of Priceville to rezone one acre of the property owned by Joel and Johlynn Snyder on Skidmore Road from A-1, Agriculture District to R-1, Single Family Residential District. Councilman Tommy Perry made the motion to approve $1,000 for the annual Morgan County Mayors /Clerks/Commissioners Meeting Nov. 2. Councilman Wayne Dunkin seconded the motion. The motion carried with a unanimous roll call vote of the following: Councilman Wayne Dunkin-yes, Councilman Sam Heflin-yes, Councilman John Oakley-yes, Councilman Tommy Perry-yes, and Mayor Melvin Duran-yes.
Councilman Sam Heflin made the motion to purchase the Birdwell Property for $85,000 and to give the Birdwell’s 90 days to move from the date of the contract signing. Councilman Tommy Perry seconded the motion. The motion carried with a unanimous roll call vote of the following: Councilman Wayne Dunkin-yes, Councilman Sam Heflin-yes, Councilman John Oakley-yes, Councilman Tommy Perry-yes, and Mayor Melvin Duran-yes.
Councilman Wayne Dunkin made the motion to approve registration $300.00, lodging, and other travel expenses for Chief Billy Peebles to attend the 18th Annual Southeastern Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar October 8-13, 2006 at Joe Wheeler State Park. Councilman Tommy Perry seconded the motion. The motion carried with a unanimous roll call vote of the following: Councilman Wayne Dunkin-yes, Councilman Sam Heflin-yes, Councilman John Oakley-yes, Councilman Tommy Perry-yes, and Mayor Melvin Duran-yes.
Councilman Sam Heflin made the motion to adjourn at 7:21 P.M. Councilman Tommy Perry seconded the motion.
